Don’t want to cook this Thanksgiving? Some people choose to dine out on this day rather than spend an enormous amount of time cooped up in the kitchen. Whether it’s a tradition or folks are just looking for something different on Turkey Day, there are plenty of upscale restaurants open on Thanksgiving Day in Houston. Here are some that are right around the corner from Marquette at Piney Point Apartments.
Artisans Cuisine & Savoir-Faire
Enjoy a touch of France at the Artisans Cuisine & Savoir-Faire. This is one of the restaurants open on Thanksgiving, at least historically. It is under the leadership of world-renowned and famed Chef Jacques Fox. Along with his staff, Fox serves a multi-course brunch on Thanksgiving Day. It features options of an oyster and cornbread amuse-bouche or sweet potato soup with jumbo lump crab and corn cake. Entree choices in the past have included:
- Port-braised short rib
- Goat cheese ravioli
- Canadian lobster tail
- Filet Mignon de porc
- Roast turkey breast
For dessert, guests might enjoy a spiced pumpkin “opera” cake with bourbon ice cream.
CRÚ Food & Wine Bar
At the CRÚ Food & Wine Bar, Thanksgiving dinner is an annual tradition. It starts with fresh-baked bread and a glass of Angry Orchard Rosé Cider for the adults. For a flat fee, diners choose between a maple-glazed quail, butternut squash bisque, or diver scallops with butternut squash risotto. Traditionalists will enjoy a spice-rubbed roasted turkey breast with sausage cornbread stuffing, green beans and whipped potatoes with pan gravy. Be sure to try the apple and pecan bread pudding for dessert. Alternatively, choose the pumpkin cheesecake.
Said to be “sophisticated not stuffy,” the nearly 115-year-old Rainbow Lodge log cabin sits on an acre of beautiful grounds. The staff has a history of serving a delicious three-course Thanksgiving meal. The options include a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings, smoked duck gumbo, and grilled buffalo or venison. Dessert choices include a croissant bread pudding and chocolate pecan pie.
