Enjoy a Bowl of Texas Chili at These Houston Restaurants

A bowl of Texas chili with lime and corn chips.

Did you know that chili is one of Texas’ most iconic foods? This one-pot wonder warms many on a cool evening, and Houston’s chefs prepare both traditional and innovative recipes. If you would like to enjoy a bowl of Texas chili, visit one of these restaurants just around the corner from Marquette at Piney Point Apartments.

Molina’s Cantina

As one of Houston’s oldest locally owned Tex-Mex restaurants, Molina’s Cantina has played a key role in shaping the city’s culinary landscape. It opened in 1941, and Eater recognizes it as “one of the classic restaurants that every Houstonian should visit at least once.” Guests receive attentive service, and the homey setting features exposed brick and dim lighting. For dinner, try the old-fashioned chili con carne. On the menu from the restaurant’s beginning, it comes topped with chopped onions and melted cheese.

Laurenzo’s

After moving to Houston in 1949, Dominic Laurenzo decided to share his homemade recipes with his new hometown. Since then, Laurenzo’s and his family have carried on his tradition of cooking from the heart. Indeed, the staff treats guests like family and ensures a memorable dining experience. The Texas red chili con carne is a customer favorite. It features beans, cheese, and onions and is best enjoyed with a mixed green salad.

Armadillo Palace

A celebration of true Houston music and culture, Armadillo Palace is a destination for families and friends to break bread and create lasting memories. The chefs blend the soul of the South, the spice of Mexico, and the sweet smoke of Texas. They create flavorful, one-of-a-kind dishes and cook over live-fire barbecue pits. Also, the restaurant offers live music several nights a week. The performances draw a crowd, and audiences tap their toes from beginning to end. Enjoy the Hill Country venison chili with jalapenos, onions, and cheddar cheese.

For dessert after a hot bowl of Texas chili, stop by one of the city’s local cupcake bakeries. These are just a few of the restaurants near Marquette at Piney Point Apartments. To call our community home, please contact our leasing staff. They’d love to show you firsthand all we have to offer.
