If you’ve already binged-watched your favorite television shows, the Houston Public Library offers “world-class comedies, dramas, and mysteries from Britain and beyond.” When you are ready to stream the best in foreign television, here are three shows that you can enjoy from our Houston apartments:

A Place to Call Home

A smash Australian drama, A Place to Call Home tells the story of Sarah Adams. After spending 20 years in Europe, she returns to Australia. After accepting a job as a nurse on her ocean voyage home, she meets the wealthy Bligh family and uncovers one of their darkest secrets. A Place to Call Home stars Marta Dusseldorp and ran for six seasons.

800 Words

On an impulse, George Turner quits his job as an 800-word columnist at a prestigious Sydney newspaper. Sight unseen, he buys a house in a small New Zealand seaside town, and breaks the news to his teenagers whose futures just became more uncertain. When George arrives, he quickly realizes that his dream of a fresh start isn’t going to go as planned. 800 Woods first aired in 2013, and aired for three seasons.

Tasked with solving a series of murders, Helene Bach must work with Raphael. A brilliant forensic pathologist, he makes the dead speak, unlike anyone else in the field. Raphael follows his own rules, presenting a challenge to Helene. As the new police commander, she’ll need to put her feeling aside to crack the case. A popular French series, Balthazar stars Tomer Sisley and Helene de Fougerolles.

After watching these fabulous shows through the Houston Public Library, continue your relaxing evening by reading one of the best science fiction e-books on your tablet.
